About This Course
The course begins with the gap between having specialized knowledge and the ability to teach it effectively. Participants will train to understand the nature of the university learner, formulate clear learning outcomes, design effective lectures, employ appropriate strategies for religious sciences, and use questions, dialogue, and formative assessment. Each participant will apply what they have learned to a real portion of one of their lectures, resulting in a model that is actionable and can be developed further.
Learning outcomes
- Distinguish between knowledge transfer and building learning, and recognize the characteristics of university learners.
- Formulate clear learning outcomes and design an interactive university lecture according to a clear educational sequence.
- Select and employ appropriate strategies for Islamic sciences, and use questions and dialogue to foster thinking.
- Utilize formative assessment and redesign part of a real lecture in an actionable plan.
Course Requirements
- Experience or practice in teaching a university course or preparing for university teaching.
- Specialization or interest in Sharia sciences, Islamic studies, or a related field.
- Bring an example of a lecture or teaching topic that the participant wishes to develop.
